Miguel "Michael" Rivera II Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 20 to Dec. 29, 2022.
Miguel (Michael) Angel Rivera II 63, of Las Vegas, Nevada formerly Michigan City, IN passed away at 6:34 a.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at St Rose Dominican Hospital San Martin of Las Vegas. On December 22, 1958 in Chicago Illinois, Michael was born to the late Miguel Angel (Mike) Rivera and Elsie Marie (Flowers) Rivera. Michael spent years working for Paltier Corporation along with the Laborer's Union as a trade and construction worker prior to retiring in 2015. Michael was a community activist with civil duties working with the Human Rights Commission in 2015, N.A.A.C.P, and many other leading duties that made him such an outstanding advocate for the community. Michael's favorite football team is the Chicago Bears and he spent a lot of his free time watching football and many other sports, listening to music, playing guitar, fishing, playing chess and spending time with his family. Michael leaves behind seven surviving children; La'Kisha Ringo and Jasmine Rivera of Florida, Carlita Rivera of North Carolina, Alicia Rivera of Oklahoma, Michael Rivera III of Michigan City, Ly'Dia Rivera of Nevada, and Alana Rivera of Florida; also surviving sisters Charlotte (Neil) Singleton, Maritta Freeman, Angela Rivera all of Michigan City, and brothers Greg (Antionette) Ellis of Chicago, IL, Avery Rivera of South Bend, Edward Flowers of Michigan City, Leroy (Pam) Wade Jr of Merrillville, Marlon Lee of Cleveland, OH; thirteen grandchildren , and a host of other relatives; with a special highlight to friend Ellis Burks. Preceding him in death were his parents Elsie and Miguel Rivera, and brother Anthony Rivera. Although Michael has passed on, Michael leaves behind his footsteps of life in hopes that they guide the hearts he left behind. May his love, compassion, and dedication forever pour into the ones he cherished and imprinted on the most. As we cast his kite and release him into God's hands, know that we will never go astray, and his hands we will never forget, because they will guide us all on our darkest days. Michael ashes will be released in San Juan, Puerto Rico per his wishes.
