Miguel Milata Obituary
May 14, 1961 - July 11, 2023
Miguel James Milata, 62, passed away from the complications of cancer on Tuesday, July 11th, 2023 at his home in Aranjuez, Madrid, Spain. Miguel was born May 14, 1961 at Torrejon Air Force Base, near Madrid. The son of James and Francisca Milata, he spent his first few years growing up with spanish cousins and friends before the Air Force relocated the family to Tinker AFB, OK. Additional Air Force moves took the family back to Spain, to Travis AFB in CA, and finally to Vandenberg AFB, CA, where the family put down roots in Vandenberg Village. Miguel graduated from Cabrillo High School in 1979, then joined the Air Force, serving in Alaska, before attending Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA. After college, he moved to Denver, CO for a time before returning to Spain, where he married Teresa Garcia-Manzano in 2010. Surviving in Aranjuez are his wife Teresa and 12 year old son David. His father James, and sister Julie Maccan, reside in Littleton, CO. Miguel loved climbing and biking, traveling/adventuring with family, and carrying on spirited discussions on subjects for which he was passionate. Most of all he loved his family and friends, which were always his priority in life. A private ceremony was held in Aranjuez to celebrate his life, and his ashes will join his Mother 's in a lovely mountain park near the picturesque town of Banos in rural Spain. We will all miss Miguel, and his free-spirted passion for life.
