Miguel Moreno

Miguel Moreno, age 71, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, December 08, 2024, in El Paso, Texas. He was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed. Miguel is preceded in death by his parents; Porfirio Moreno and Luz Gutierrez; and his siblings; Antonia Moreno, Lucio Moreno, Lucy Moreno, Ida Chavez and Carmen Williams. He is survived by his loving wife, Maria R. Moreno; his children, Estella Moreno (Carlos Contreras), Angelica Moreno (Kevin Barthlow) and Miguel Moreno Jr; his 3 grandchildren, Nicholas, Santiago and Isaac Contreras; and his siblings, Porfirio Moreno, Ramon Moreno, Jerry Moreno, Leonor Armstrong and Terry Cortez. He is also survived by many extended friends and family who cherish and honor his memory. 

Miguel, a lifelong resident of El Paso, dedicated 32 years of service as a groundskeeper at the University of Texas at El Paso, where he took great pride in his work. After retiring from UTEP, he continued contributing to his community by working for the City of El Paso.

Throughout his life, Miguel was passionate about softball, playing on various local and traveling teams where he formed countless lifelong friendships. He was an enthusiastic supporter of UTEP Basketball, the Dallas Cowboys, and the New York Yankees. Miguel also cherished road trips, camping adventures, and, most of all, creating memories with his beloved family.

A Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 9:00 pm, Thursday, December 19, 2024 with a Rosary at 7:00 pm at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 131 S. Zaragoza Rd., El Paso, TX 79907. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church on Friday, December 20, 2024 with a Graveside Service to follow at 11:15 am at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
