May 24, 1932 - June 21, 2023
Lifetime resident of Pueblo, Mike was born at home in Salt Creek. He was raised by his parents, Charles and Louisa Coco and was the 4th child of 8. As a young man, he worked hard and left school in the 9th grade to help support his family. He worked for a broom factory at age 16 and at age 18 began working for the steel mill for the next 9 years. He married his first wife Viola Tafoya at age 18 and had two children, Beatrice and Katherine. After moving to California in 1959, he married his next wife, Ann Roybal and had three more daughters, Michele, Melani and Melinda. While in California, Mike answered an ad for the US Post Office and became a mail carrier for the next 32 years. He delivered mail in Hollywood to some famous stars, like Zsa Zsa Gabor, Lloyd Bridges, Vincent Price, and even encountered the Beatles on one of his deliveries. Mike eventually returned to Colorado Springs in 1977 and married his third wife, Patricia Marrs and had his last three children, Michael, Maria and Mario. Mike continued to deliver mail and remained active by running marathons up Pikes Peak. He eventually settled back into Pueblo, where he remained active. He took on various part time jobs, working with a mortuary, doing yard work for a gardener, delivering flowers for local florists, doing a stint as a local DJ, and driving for the SRDA assisting seniors to local appointments. He regularly attended senior dances and loved singing karaoke at his Eagles Lodge and various bars. As the years went by, he continued daily walks, sitting out in the yard doing gardening, reading the paper, and doing crossword puzzles. Mike passed away at the home of his son Michael, who took care of him during his final days. He is preceded in death by his daughter Beatrice, both of his parents, his 3 wives, and his siblings, Vera, Lupe, Barbara, Caroline, and Stephanie. He will surely be missed by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous other family members and friends.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday June 30, 2023 at 10am at Roselawn Cemetery in Pueblo, Colorado.
