Samuel D. Holgerson, 69, of Salina, Kansas, was united with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 18, 2025. With heavy hearts, we say goodbye to a beloved family member, leaving behind memories of joy, laughter, and kindness.
Sam was born to Marian and Robert Holgerson on June 19, 1956, in Manhattan, KS. Sam was the youngest of 11 children. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Linda and Mary Ann, and brothers Richard, Larry, Jim, Bob, and Bill. He is survived by his brothers, Tom and Dan, as well as many nieces and nephews, and several friends.
Those who knew Sam can find comfort in the fact that he lived his life uniquely, with a spirit that was truly his own. He cherished life's simple moments and was known for his quiet nature and reserved demeanor. Sam had a deep bond with his mother, and he cared for her until her final moments. His countless stories and adventures will continue to echo in the lives of his family and friends as a testament to his character and love.
In keeping with Sam’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral or memorial services at this time. The family respects Sam's desire for a quiet departure. Instead of flowers, the family kindly requests that you consider making a charitable donation to Sangre de Cristo Hospice of Pueblo, CO, or Good Shepherd Hospice of Salina, KS. Your contribution will be a meaningful way to honor Sam's memory and support these organizations in their important work.
Annie (Holgerson) Rahl would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to both hospice organizations for their exceptional support. We are deeply thankful for the kindness and compassion shown to our family by the healthcare professionals and support staff who assisted Uncle Sam. Your dedication played a crucial role in ensuring his wishes were honored with dignity and peace.
