I served with Mike back in 2003 in the Arizona Army National Guard 1st 180th Field Artillery. We were deployed to Davis Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson. I really enjoyed spending time with Mike because we came from the same hometown of Kearny, and knew my mom and dad from the time they lived in Sonora. We talked about Kennecot and he told me how it was working with my dad, it´s pretty rare nowadays to find anyone that knew my parents as my dad was one of the earliest families that settled in Sonora. Mike made the deployment bearable as neither of us felt alone. Mike will be missed but I know that all good soldiers go to heaven and I will see him again someday.

I met Mike only once in Kearny shortly after my own husbands death. He was funny, kind and loved to talk about just anything. I was sad to learn of his death from my sister Carmen only yesterday. I send you peace and love, I know you are in a better place. Your suffering is over, you fought the good fight for a long time, and it was time to go into eternal rest.
