Mike Martin, 62, of Utica, passed away Monday, November 1, 2021. He was born May 20, 1959, in Madisonville, Kentucky. Mike proudly served his country as a paratrooper and mechanic in the United States Army. He was an experienced iron worker, member of the Boilermakers Local # 726, had years of experience driving a truck, worked at the Kentuckiana stockyard for several years and for most of his life, he worked on cars. Many friends who benefitted from his mechanical skills were likely to find some random part he had worked on painted purple when they picked up the car. In spite of his rough exterior, love of motorcycles and work that left him with greasy hands, Mike had a thing for bright colors and had been known to stop cutting hay to grab some nice flowers growing in the field. He had a heart for helping others and will be missed by many. Mike is survived by his parents, Wayne and Sandra Oakley of Madisonville; a daughter, Devan (Don) Scherer of Semmes, AL; two granddaughters, Lindsay of Semmes, AL and Micky of Tulsa, OK; siblings, Kay (James) Brumfield of Roxboro, NC, Carol (Tony) Blake of Hanson, KY, David (Lisa) Oakley of Mortons Gap, KY, and Bobbi (Shawn) Trask of Russellville, KY; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Mike will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday November 7, 2021 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory where visitation will be held from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to The Wounded Warrior Project, 223 Rosa L. Parks Avenue, Suite 301, Nashville, Tennessee 37203. Memories and condolences for the family of Mike Martin may be offered online at www.glenncares.com.

Wow is all I can say! The first time I met you we were at Linda my mil house for Rots funeral and she was having an estate sale and it started to rain and this man in his bibs came running out of a room as fast as he could to get everything out of the rain. It showed his kind side and later I found out his humorous side. He wore all the bright shirts and his bibs. He had an infectuous personality and kept everyone smiling and laughing. I could tell Devon was his world and he as hers too. I am so very sorry for your loss and net he be riding his Harley and making all around him laugh.
Take Care Devon and family
