Mike Powell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dial-Murray Funeral Home - Moncks Corner on Jan. 5, 2026.
Michael Alec "Mike" Powell, 71, of Bonneau, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, January 4, 2026, at his residence. Born on January 31, 1954, in Florence, SC, Mike was the son of the late A.J. Powell and Hannah Poston Powell.

Mike was the devoted owner and operator of Modular Construction, a business that carried him throughout South Carolina and beyond. He was known for building modular facilities such as man camps, army barracks, and emergency structures, especially in the wake of storms and natural disasters. His work helped provide shelter and support to many in times of need. A man of faith, Mike attended Christian Outreach Ministries. He was also a dedicated member of the Omar Shrine Temple, Mt. Hope Lodge #128 AFM, the York Rite, and the Scottish Rite, reflecting his commitment to fellowship and service within his community.

Outside of work, Mike found great joy in his shop, where he loved to "piddle" with various projects. He cherished time spent on the water, and enjoyed camping and fishing. His appreciation for the outdoors was matched only by his love for his family. Mike was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Charlotte Grace Powell; his sister, Sybil Powell; and two brothers, Mitchell Powell and Charlie Powell.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna DuPree Powell; two sons, Michael C. "Chan" Powell and his wife, Molly, of St. Stephen, and C.A. "Rocky" Powell and his wife, Cortney, of Pinopolis; a sister, Margie Johnson and her husband, Aldon, of Georgetown; a brother, Rev. Tony Powell and his wife, Ann, of Scranton; and three treasured grandchildren, Cooper Powell, Olivia Newton, and Ashlyn Jones.

Funeral services for Mike will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday afternoon, January 11, 2026, at Christian Outreach Ministries. Interment will follow at the Bonneau Baptist Cemetery, with arrangements directed by Dial-Murray Funeral Home, Moncks Corner. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 PM until the hour of service on Sunday.

Mike Powell's legacy of dedication, kindness, and love for his family and community will be cherished by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
