Mike Thompson

Mike Thompson, 80, of Rowan died Monday, November 3, 2025 at Stratford Specialty Care. Private family services will be held at a later date. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is caring for Mike and his family.

Jon Michael Thompson, son of John and Margie (O’Connor) Thompson, was born September 14, 1945 in Webster City. He graduated from Webster City High School in 1963. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1965- 1967. On January 12, 1975, Mike was united in marriage to Carol Ellis and to this union twin girls were born, Toni and Terri. The couple later divorced. Mike worked for 30 years as a bartender at Kelly’s Place.

He is survived by his grandchildren, Taylor Segar of Webster City, Sydney Segar of Ankeny, Brady Newman and Avery Newman both of Webster City; sister, Sheryll Lyons of Webster City; niece, Lanette Smith of Webster City, Kelli Ackmann-Olson of Illinois; nephews, Kevin (Tina) Lawrence of Eagle Grove, Rick Lyons of Ankeny, Keo Webster of Illinois, and Kreg Ackmann of Florida.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Terri Newman and Toni Segar; sisters, Kay, Jolene, and Cindy and brother-in-law, John Lyons.
