Michael Patrick Walsh, age 64, passed away on June 9, 2022 at his residence in Canton, Georgia.
Mike was born on November 10, 1957 in South Bend, IN to parents William H. Walsh and Shirley Mae Hoyt Walsh. Mike was a graduate of Georgia Tech, receiving a mechanical engineering degree in 1980.
Mike joined Lockheed Martin in Marietta, Georgia in 1980 and started his career in Advanced Concepts Design. He moved to St Louis, Missouri in 1989 to support McDonnell Douglas military aircraft programs and returned to Lockheed Martin in Marietta in 1991. Over his 40 year career as an aeronautical engineer he made significant contributions to multiple programs including C-130J, C-27J, and C-5 RERP.
Mike is survived by his wife, Pamela Howard Walsh, two sons, Matthew P. Walsh (Mindy) and John M. Walsh (Allie); three grandchildren, Collin Patrick Walsh, Aiden Matthew Walsh and Bradley William Walsh. Mike has five surviving sisters, Sharon Walsh Trivellini, Patricia L. Walsh, Cheryl M. Walsh, Kelly J. Walsh and Christine Walsh Tyre. He is also survived by his in-laws, Lawrence and Wanda Howard, as well as many nieces and nephews, their children, and many friends who will miss him greatly.
Mike was an avid sports and music lover. He was extraordinarily intelligent and known for his fantastic sense of humor and compassion toward everyone he encountered.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, American Cancer Society, or Special Olympics.
Please stop by and join us to commemorate Mike's wonderful life. We will be gathering at Great Sky Clubhouse (terrace level), 100 Sunshower Ridge, Canton, GA 30114 on Thursday, June 23, 2022 from 5 to 7 p.m. to share memories, swap stories, and celebrate all the things that made Mike so special. Snacks and beverages will be provided. Casual attire is encouraged and children are welcome.
