Mildred "Millie" Bither, 92, formerly of Robinson, IL, passed away on August 16, 2022, at Ridgeview Care Center. She was born on October 9, 1929, in Robinson, the daughter of Charlie & Blanche White. She grew up in Robinson and was a graduate of Robinson High School. On August 6, 1950, she married Gordon Bither, and they moved to Lafayette, IN, where she worked for General Telephone for many years. Millie & Gordon's time in Lafayette was precious, as they enjoyed innumerable hours together, taking in the beauty of their wooded property while sitting on their patio. Following their retirement, their love of the ocean drew the Bithers to North Port, FL. Here, Millie could often be found riding around the retirement community on her moped and was also well-known for her homemade custard, which she enjoyed delivering to friends when they were sick.
Following Gordon's passing on March 26, 2013, Millie moved back to Illinois to be close to her niece and nephews and their families: R. Steven Smith, Tim Smith, Brent Smith, Todd Smith, and Mary (Smith) Gordon. They, along with many other nieces and nephews, will remember their "Aunt Middy" with great fondness. After all, her friendly personality was evident throughout her 92 years. This includes the twilight of her life, as she was a welcoming presence to her friends and caregivers at Brookstone Estates, Magnolia Center, and most recently, Ridgeview Care Center, who could never and will never forget her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie & Blanche White; her husband, Gordon Bither, and their beloved little Yorkie, Duke; her brother, Loyce White; and her sisters, Lila (White) Tincher and Reta (White) Smith.
Mille is to be cremated without public services. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
