Mildred Marie (Breakfield) Campbell, 85, of Leasburg passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025, in the peaceful comfort of her home.

On Friday, June 16, 1939, Mildred was born to the union of Freddie Breakfield and Almeda (Hollinsworth) in Shirley, Missouri.

Mildred received her early education from Shirley School.

On Sunday, January 26, 1958, Mildred was united in marriage to the love of her life, Rev. Thomas L. “Tom” Campbell in Shirley, Missouri. Together they would share 63 beautiful years and together would raise 11 beautiful children till his passing on Tuesday, February 23, 2021.

Mildred and Tom founded The Country Church in Leasburg in 2006 and would become a staple as a house of worship for the community.

Aside from being a pastor’s wife, Mildred was a devoted mother to her 11 children. She also for some time had worked as a teacher’s aide at the New Life Christian Academy from 1990 to 2001.

Mildred enjoyed many things in life such as sitting outside in the calm and still nature watching the birds that would come to pay her a visit. Traveling was amongst her other favorite outings, but she mostly looked forward to the restful naps that would help pass the time till her destination. Mildred loved spending time in the kitchen whether she was canning or making her famous jelly and preserves for her grandchildren. Mildred also excelled in doing puzzles. She was also a fan of selling Avon, she loved helping other women express their beauty and the decent discount she got helped keep her motivated in selling it to others. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day but it was also Mildred’s favorite, she loved having spam and waffles. Most of all, Mildred loved the precious time spent with her family and friends both at church and at her home. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Freddie and Almeda Breakfield; six brothers, Beauford (Betty) Breakfield, Eddie (Bessie) Breakfield, Virgil (RuthAnn) Breakfield, Russell Breakfield, Montie Breakfield & Darrell Breakfield; her husband, Rev, Thomas L. “Tom” Campbell; two sons, James Campbell & Timothy Campbell; two daughters-in-law, Karen Campbell & Arlena Campbell; two grandchildren, Amy Lynn DeClue & Jonathan Davis; one great-granddaughter, Honor Bridgeman.

Mildred is survived by her four sons, Andrew (Marsha) Campbell of Cuba, Dale (Judy) Campbell of Cuba, Peter “Greg” (Janey) Campbell of Bourbon & Joshua (Megan) Campbell of Cuba; five daughters, Julie (Dan) Gargus of Leasburg, Barb (Bill) Bridgeman of Sullivan; Marie (Larry) Whittaker of Union; Charlotte (David) Gargus of Bourbon & Becky (Michael) Davis of Cuba; two daughters-in-law, Deanna Campbell of Sullivan and Rhonda Campbell of Leslie; one brother, David (Mary) Breakfield of Wyoming; one sister, Vivian (Charles) Ledbetter of Leasburg; 23 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
