Mildred "Millie" Ann Hazel, age 64, of Indianapolis, entered into her Eternal Rest on January 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving daughter and grandchildren. She was born in Louisville, KY to Martha and Raymond Chandler, who preceded her in death. Millie was also preceded in death by her son, Larry Hazel, Jr. and a sister, Hattie, who passed away in infancy.

Millie graduated from Decatur High School. She later married Larry Hazel Sr. and later divorced but the love and support they had for each other continued for a lifetime. He was always there for her until her final day.

Millie's life revolved around her family and her greatest achievements were being a wife, mother, "Mamaw", sister and friend. She worked most of her life in Nursing Homes as a CNA and later as an activity Director and then moving into Social Work. Millie devoted many hours and late nights poring much love and attention into her residents.

Away from work, she spent most weekends at Raccoon Lake camping and boating. She loved the beach and enjoyed all family vacations. She visited her family in Louisville as often as possible but she also loved her naps, reading and catching up on soap operas. Millie loved to bake and cook for her family, while always adding her own special touches to the meals she made. Her Facebook page was flooded with recipes, and in the most recent years, her TV was tuned to TLC 24 hours a day.

Until her illness, she could be found on the front porch visiting with family and neighbors with a glass of unsweetened tea and a Maverick. She might even try to convince someone to make a late night Casino trip. She was a devoted mother and Mamaw who constantly cheered her family on. She was known for her kindness and putting others first. She never met a stranger.

Millie is survived by her daughter, Tara V. Hazel; brothers, Raymond and Gary Chandler; sisters, Julie (Benny) Sampley and Laraine (Joseph) Gunter; grandchildren, Mackenzie "Kenzie" Lewis and Ethan Lewis.

Please join the family at her Memorial Service January 24, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Indiana Funeral Care, Greenwood with visitation form 12 Noon until the time of service.
