Helen Louise Whitney McGee was born on November 1, 1941 and passed away on February 6, 2026.
Helen was preceded by her husband of 49 years, Omer McGee, her parents, Elzie Halton Whitney and Anice Delton Meador Whitney, sister Myra Jane Whitney Snodgrass, grandparents and a host of uncles, aunts and cousins, her daughter Norma Jean Weirauch, and granddaughter Lynette Perkins.
Helen is survived by her sister Mary Whitney, brother-in-law Michael Snodgrass, four nieces Rachel (Benjamin) Herndon, Leah (Aaron) McNeal, Amber (Fabio) Nunes, Molly (Manuel) Martinez, son-in-law William Weirauch; grandsons and granddaughters, Ryan Ridley, Jeffrey (Stephanie) Ridley; Kellie (Mark) Wersel, Dawn Weirauch, and Billy(Dawn) Weirauch; 16 great grandchildren and 18 great-great grandchildren; nine great nephews and nieces; Elijah Herndon, Norah Herndon, Judah Herndon, Gideon McNeal, Levi McNeal, Luca Nunes, Mateo Nunes, Cora Martinez and Hannah Martinez.
Helen was a Christian for about 66 years, having professed faith in and accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior at New Harmony General Baptist Mission in 1959. Helen then attended New Harmony General Baptist Church many years and Bethel General Baptist Church for as long as her health permitted.
Helen stood by and supported her husband in his gospel music ministry for around 35 years.
Helen was a retiree of Diamond Chain Company after 30 years of service.
Helen loved spending time with her family, and while her health permitted, she enjoyed attending and watching her great nephews and niece play sports.
Helen will be greatly missed by all surviving family and a host of friends.
Service officiated by Bro. Willie B. Lyles, and Bro. Charles Durham, Pastor and Assistant Pastor, New Harmony General Baptist Church, and Bro. Ed Parrott, Pastor, Bethel General Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Tuesday, February 10, 2026 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with the funeral service following at 11:30 a.m. at G. H. Herrmann Funeral Home, 1605 S State Road 135,
Greenwood, IN 46143.
Helen will be laid to rest by the side of her husband, Omer McGee, at Floral Park Cemetery,
Indianapolis, IN.
