Mildred Verlane Letienne, age 87, of Turner, MI., passed away peacefully at her home on November 26, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 16, 1938, at the family home in Turner to the late David and Emma (Boyde) Clark.
Mildred attended school in Turner at the rural Keystone School facility. She married the love of her life, Pierre Louis Letienne Sr., on September 30, 1955, and together they had six children. Mildred was a lifelong resident of the Turner area. She worked for Sherman Township as the township clerk where she served for 31 years before retiring in 2012.
Mildred's family and friends will say of her, that she was a strong woman, always giving, never met a stranger she didn't like, and a dedicated mother. Around her home she enjoyed gardening, canning, crocheting, sitting on her porch, bird watching, and to top it off, she was an amazing cook and baker. Her oldest children remember her playing the steel guitar when they were young. She had many close friends that meant so much to her and those friends will miss her greatly. More than anything else though, she loved her children and grandchildren and spending as much time as possible with them.
Mildred is survived by her children, Maurice, Rodney, Todd (Carol), Denise, Pierre Jr. (Wanda), and Annette; grandchildren, Anthony, Amanda, Angela, Amie, Mindy, Janine, and John; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Emma, Will, Eliot, Chandler, Winney, and Faith, along with many nieces and nephews.
Mildred is preceded in death by husband, Pierre Sr; brother, William; sisters, Rose and June.
Family will hold visitation services for Mildred at the Buresh Funeral Home in Twining on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 4:00pm – 8:00pm. Funeral service on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 11:00am at the Whittemore Methodist Church, followed by interment at the Cedar Valley Cemetery in Twining. A luncheon will be held at the Whittemore Methodist Church. Pastor Gary Gillings will be officiating.
