Mildred McCallops Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 15, 2025.
Mildred "Milly" McCallops (Mulgrew), 70, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, in Falmouth, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with ALS.

Milly was born on November 30, 1955, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Mildred Mulgrew (Brennan) and George Mulgrew. She grew up in Medford, Massachusetts, and graduated from Medford High School in 1974.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 37 years, Richard ("Dick") McCallops, her beloved daughter, Milly Sejkora (McCallops), her son-in-law, Thomas Sejkora, and her cherished grandchildren, Phoebe and Abram Sejkora, who were the center of her life. She is survived, and lovingly remembered, by her brother Paul's wife, Eileen; her siblings Mary Jewett and her husband Frank, Karen Heylin and her husband Edward, Elaine Low, and her youngest brother, George Mulgrew; as well as by many nieces and nephews who adored and who adored her, as well.

She was predeceased by her brother Paul Mulgrew and by her sister-in-law Mary Mulgrew (Kenneally), wife of her brother George.

Milly was raised in a rambunctious and loving Irish family and remained deeply connected to them throughout her life.

Milly spent her career with the United States Postal Service-longer than she might have preferred-and came away with a bad back, a solid pension, and pride as a dedicated union member.

She had many lifelong friends from childhood, who she considered family, as well as her Falmouth friends and friends made during her career, whose presence enriched her life.

Milly lived life on her own terms-unconventional, fun, and full of mischief-always finding joy in the moment, helping others whenever she could, and cherishing her family.

She loved the beach, thrifting, and crocheting gifts for friends and family, and she was famous for her delicious homemade apple pies.

She was a passionate supporter of veterans, an advocate for the care and protection of animals, and a quiet champion of anyone who found themselves down on their luck.

Milly's family is extremely grateful for the care and compassion of her loving nurses, who stayed with her during the last days of her life.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Anthony's Church, 167 East Falmouth Highway, East Falmouth, at 12:00 PM on Thursday, December 18, 2025, followed by a Celebration of Life at Grumpy's in Falmouth at 4:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Milly's memory to Compassionate Care ALS (CCALS), P.O. Box 1052, West Falmouth, MA 02574, or online at ccals.org.

Milly's big heart and strong spirit touched all who were fortunate enough to know her and she will be forever missed.
