It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert McCallops, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left this world on September 10, 2025, in Amarillo, Texas. Born on April 15, 1947, in Hammonton, New Jersey, Robert’s life spanned 78 remarkable years filled with love, laughter, and a deep commitment to his family and friends.

Robert was the cherished son of Josephine Patile and Estes McCallops. He was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, James and his twin, Anthony. Their absence left a significant void in his life, but Robert always held them close in his heart, passing down their stories and memories to future generations.

In 1977, Robert found his soulmate in Joyce Morgan. Their love story began in a most charming way—meeting at the local Piggly Wiggly. Over the course of 48 joyful years together, they built a life filled with laughter, support, and countless memories that will be treasured forever. Together, they nurtured a beautiful family, which includes their son Chris McCallops and his wife Rebekah, their daughter Stacy Holt and her husband Joe, and their adopted daughters Crystal Evanson and her husband Rustin, and Sabrina Wilson and her partner Bryan. He was a proud grandfather to granddaughters Emerald and Keiara, and grandsons Judah and Elijah, as well as a delighted great-grandfather to Kamden, whose smiles brought him immeasurable joy.

Robert’s life was marked by service; he proudly served in both the Army and Navy, dedicating years of his youth to his country during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he worked at ASARCO for an impressive 37 years, retiring with a legacy of commitment and hard work that inspired those around him.

Beyond his professional achievements, Robert was known for his vibrant spirit and warm heart. He had a knack for making friends wherever he went, never meeting a stranger. His infectious sense of humor was characterized by a repertoire of cheesy dad and papa jokes that lit up the room and brought smiles to those around him. He was a loving husband who enjoyed playfully annoying Joyce and a talented cook who often gathered his family around the table for meals filled with laughter and love.

In his leisure time, Robert found great joy in solving jigsaw puzzles and sudoku, as well as passionately collecting baseball cards and wolves. He cherished the moments spent with his son and friends at Buffalo Wild Wings, where they would share stories and create new memories over delicious wings.

Robert’s generosity extended beyond his immediate family; he opened his home to many friends and family over the years, becoming a pillar of support and kindness for those fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of love will endure in the hearts of all who loved him.

As we bid farewell to Robert, we extend our heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at BSA Hospital, as well as the dedicated team at the BSA Harrington Cancer Center, for their unwavering support and care during his final days.

His spirit will live on in the cherished memories, the laughter shared, and the love that binds his family together.

Robert McCallops will be deeply missed but never forgotten. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a reminder to savor every moment. Rest in peace, dear Robert. Your love has shaped us all, and your memory will forever shine brightly in our hearts.
