Mildred C. McCarthy of Long Beach, NY, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026, surrounded by family. She was a loving and devoted sister, wife, mother, and grandmother who will be sorely missed.
Millie was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 14, 1947, to Augustine & Kathryn Kehoe. She graduated from The Dominican Academy in 1965, CUNY Queens College in 1969, and earned her Master's in Education from Hofstra University in 1985.
Millie and Danny, who met as teenagers, married in June 1969 and moved to Long Beach in 1974 where they have enjoyed a lifetime of happiness. She is survived by her beloved husband Danny for over 56 years, her daughter Bridget MacDonald (David), son Ryan (Laura), and 5 grandchildren (Connor, Christopher, Emma, Caroline, and Catherine). She is also survived by her sister, Ann Kehoe, as well as many nieces and nephews. Millie is predeceased by her sisters Clare Kehoe and Kathleen Banach, brother William Kehoe, and daughter-in-law Kristin McCarthy.
Millie was a teacher for over 30 years, 28 spent at Lindell Elementary School, where she is remembered as a dedicated and caring educator. Upon her retirement in 2015, she and Danny enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren and vacationing in their townhouse in Florida.
The family will receive friends Tuesday January 13, 2026, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Christopher T. Jordan Funeral Home, Inc. 302 Long Beach Rd., Island Park, NY. Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday January 14, 2026, at 10am at St. Ignatius Martyr Church, Long Beach, NY. Interment Pinelawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY.
