Mildred Mae Mullins

Mildred “Mickie” Mae Mullins (nee Wright), 97, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025. She was born on August 10, 1927, in Covington, Kentucky, daughter to Christeen (Parker) and Copa Wright. Mildred married her beloved husband, Demas Mullins, and shared forty-seven wonderful years with him before his passing in 1990.

 

Mildred was a faithful church member throughout her life and attended services for many years at the Epworth United Methodist Church in Ludlow, Kentucky, where she was baptized on March 17, 1990. Most recently, she attended First Church of Christ in Burlington, Kentucky.

 

Mildred grew up in the Great Depression, but hard work was instilled in her early foundation. She held many jobs throughout her life, working at the Rollman’s Department Store in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio; the dental office of Dr. Adams’s in Covington, Kentucky; Walgreens in Newport, Kentucky; Nick & Mickie’s Bar on Decoursey Avenue in Covington, Kentucky; Avis & Hertz Rental Cars at the Greater Cincinnati, Ohio airport; and the McAlpin’s Department Store at Crestview Hills Mall in Crestview Hills, Kentucky. Mildred’s final employer was Atria Senior Living in Crestview Hills, Kentucky, where she worked as a Concierge before finally retiring in 2012 at age 84.

 

Mildred was a lifelong animal lover who was the guardian of many pets throughout her life. Her animals gave her so much joy, and we know that she will be welcomed with purrs and wet kisses when she is reunited with her cat, Andy, and dogs: Monique, Gizmo, Susha, and Tiger.

 

She is survived by her two children, Veronica Kuntz and Amanda Machala (Rick); nine grandchildren, Daniel (Juli), Becky, Brian, Michele, Michael, Ashley (Michael), Matthew (Hailey), Kathy and Ally; six great-grandchildren, Zane, Alec, Brooklyn, Caleb, Riley and Maxwell; one great-great granddaughter, Kailer; and her beloved cat, Eleanor, who was placed with a loving home.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Demas, on October 3, 1990; her daughter, Christeen Loretta Watkins, on March 25, 1992; her brothers, Walter Louis Wright, on March 15, 1996, and Donald Edward Wright, on June 4, 2013; her childhood friend, Loretta Heard Ehret, on October 5, 2017; and her parents, Christeen and Copa Wright.

 

Visitation will be on Monday, January 27th from 11:00 am until time of service at 12:00 pm at Middendorf Funeral Home 3312 Madison Pk. Ft. Wright, KY 41017.
