Mildred L. Nelson, 99, Upper Yoder, passed away December 8, 2025, in Johnstown. Born September 25, 1926, in Summerhill, PA, beloved daughter of the late Laura G. and Fred C. Nelson.

Preceded in death by parents, sister Genevieve Gallardy, nephews Donald Gallardy, Thomas Gallardy, infant nephew Robert Gallardy, great-niece, Donna DeBoe, and great-nephew, Bob Gallardy.

Survived by nephew Leo (Linda) Gallardy, Naples, FL and great-nieces Renee (Gallardy) Felix, Annette (Gallardy) Nedimyer, and Karen Gallardy-Marchisen, and great-nephew Tony Gallardy.

Mildred was a graduate of South Fork High School class of 1945. After graduation Mildred started working as a clerk at Woolworth's, Johnstown. In 1954, Mildred was provided with an opportunity to start her professional career at U.S. Bank, Johnstown where she worked as a clerk in the Trust Department, and she continued working in that department until she was eventually promoted to Vice President of the Trust Department, a position she held until she retired in 1995. After retirement, Mildred continued working part-time at First National Bank Trust Department, Windber Water Authority, she also volunteered at Conemaugh Hospital Tech Park. Mildred served as a past member of the Board of Lee Initiatives, and was past President of the Cambria County Estate Planning Commission, and past President of the American Institute of Banking.

She enjoyed golfing in the Atta Girls Golf League at Berkley Hills Golf Course, playing cards with friends at Pizza Hut once a month, and enjoyed having dinner with friends at The Boulevard Grill. Mildred will be missed by her family, and her close friends, Shirley Pastorek, Mary Walker, Bonnie Ott, Jane Baxbaum, and Pam Halcrow.

Friends received at Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd, Johnstown PA 15905 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM on Friday December 12, 2025. Mildred was a member of Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, Very Rev. Mark S. Begly. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
