KINGS MOUNTAIN: It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mildred Brown Nix, a cherished mother, sister, aunt, and friend, on August 18, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on August 23, 1938, in Hendersonville, NC, Mildred lived a life filled with love, warmth, and kindness.
Mildred was the beloved daughter of the late John Brown and Frances Nix Brown. She was preceded in death by her three sisters and four brothers, with whom she shared many fond memories growing up.
A devoted mother, Mildred leaves behind her son, Tony Mauer, who was the pride and joy of her life. Her good-natured spirit and loving, caring nature extended beyond her family to all who knew her. She was adored by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as the neighborhood kids who found in her a nurturing and understanding friend.
Mildred had a passion for life's simple pleasures. She loved going to the movies and losing herself in the pages of a good book. She found serenity at the beach, where the sound of the waves brought her peace. Her love for animals was evident to all, as they gravitated toward her gentle demeanor.
In Kings Mountain, NC, where she spent her final days, Mildred was known not only for her sweet disposition but also for her unwavering kindness and generosity.
While she will be dearly missed, her legacy of love and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
