Mildred D. "Mickie" Pettigrew

Mildred "Mickie" D. Pettigrew passed away on November 3, 2025. She was born in Pacolet, SC on April 3, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Nannie Fleming. Mickie, as she was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of those who had the privilege to know her. She was a social butterfly who had many close and dear friends whom she loved. Her journey on this Earth was marked by love, kindness, and her deep-rooted faith in God.
Mickie was very active in her church; she joined First Baptist Church of Lyman on April 26, 1959. She served on many committees including: the Bereavement Committee, Special Occasions Committee, was a member of the Walking Club, the Senior Choir, the Joy Club, and Bethany Sunday School Class. She taught 3-year-old Sunday School for over 50 years.
Mickie worked in the Research and Development Lab for Lowenstein until her retirement. There she was known for her fashion sense and the high-heel shoes she wore every day.
Mickie was predeceased by her first husband, Fred Danner, who was killed in action, and her second husband, K. Douglas Pettigrew, Sr. She was also predeceased by her son, Kenneth D. Pettigrew, Jr., and a special niece, Joyce McDaniel. Mickie was the last remaining member of her immediate family. Brothers and sisters who predeceased her: Etta Fleming, Vera Wilkins, Vick Fleming, Gena Hill, Jack Fleming, and Joe Fleming.
Mickie is survived by the most loved and special people in her life: Patti Lacey (Andrew) and Susan Wilson (Frank). Her grandchildren: Walden Lacey (Brianna) and Dozier Lacey (Leigha). Her great-grandchildren: Rayleigh, James, and Naomi Lacey. She is also survived by her wonderful nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at First Baptist Church of Lyman on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at 3:00 PM. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Lyman designating the Joy Club or the Parkers (who are missionaries in Utah).

Although Mickie's physical presence may no longer be with us, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May her memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth her legacy of faith and love.
