I was the helper in one of Katie's Sunday School classes for three year olds in 1965. She was such a sweet lady and I have thought of her often over the years.

Katie was always special to my family.
In the late 1950s my mother was diagnosed with lymph cancer. There wasn't much to know about treatment then. Mother occasionally needed blood transfusions. That was back in the day when one had to find and provide a donor.
My father delivered milk to your family and Katie knew Mother was sick. Daddy mentioned her needing a blood donor.
And Katie was a match. She gave blood for her.

In later years I wrote to her, thanking her for making a difference for my family. (We discovered that we shared Kathleen as a common name.)Mother lived six years after the diagnosis (diagnosed when she was pregnant with me). I doubt that anyone ever knew of her kindness to the milkman's wife.

But I will always remember.
God's blessings to all of you who love Katie.
