Mildred Pressley Moses, born on February 11, 1933, in Clover, South Carolina, peacefully passed away on March 29, 2026, at Courtland Terrace in Gastonia, North Carolina. Surrounded by family in her final moments, Mildred’s departure marks the end of a life rich in love, dedication, and cherished memories.

Throughout most of her life, Mildred worked in the textile industry, a career that reflected her steadfastness and commitment. Yet, beyond her professional endeavors, it was the moments spent with family that truly defined her. She took immense pride in her children and grandchildren, considering them her greatest accomplishments and the source of her deepest joy.

Mildred’s warm personality was illuminated by her simple pleasures—hours spent engaged in crossword puzzles and bingo, as well as her enjoyment of mystery and conspiracy shows which sparked her curious and thoughtful nature. These hobbies, along with her loving spirit, left an indelible impression on those who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of over 32 years, James Harrison “Jim” Pressley, her beloved parents, Frank and Irene Norton Moses, and her dear siblings, Lloyd Moses, Lila White, and Margaret Parker. Though they have gone before her, their memories live on in Mildred’s heart and the stories lovingly shared by family.

Her surviving family carries forward her legacy of love and connection: daughters Sherry Weaver, Lori Conner, and Theresa Auten; grandchildren Scott Thomas (Dena), Nicky Thomas (Crystal), Ashley Auten, Wesley Auten, Kristi Fortenberry (Josh), Amy Baxter, and Suzanne Blake; as well as great-grandchildren Nathan, Tyler, Liam, Jude, Cooper, Emily, Christopher, Victoria, and Mason. Together, they hold fast to the treasured moments spent with Mildred and the values she imparted.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home and Cremation, located at 2916 Union Road, Gastonia, NC 28054. This will be followed immediately by a Celebration of Life from 2:00 PM service in the Chapel with Pastor Dickie Spargo officiating at the same location. Burial will then be held at Gaston Memorial Park, Garden of Time section, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, NC 28054.

Mildred Pressley’s life was one of quiet strength and unwavering love. She will be deeply missed but forever treasured in the hearts of all who had the honor to know her. May her story inspire us to cherish our families and find joy in the small, meaningful moments of life.
