Mrs. Mildred Simmons Obituary It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mildred Kent Simmons born on October 23, 1933, to Alverine Broomfield and George Kent. She peacefully departed from this world on December 21, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
A devout woman of faith, Mildred was a member of Little Salem Holiness Church of Groveland, GA where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She lived her life guided by her unwavering love for God and her deep devotion to her family. She was the cornerstone of her community, a beacon of kindness and warmth to all who knew her.
Mildred was united in Holy Matrimony to Willie Simmons Jr in 1947. Their union was blessed with two daughters and four sons, Betty (Cort) Nordeoff, Sherrion (Kelly) Dukes, Jeffery (Sheree) Simmons, Craig (Yasmine) Simmons, DeSean Simmons and Bobby (Lawanda) Simmons who preceded her in death. She also is survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Among her favorite pastimes were sewing, cooking, and spending quality time with her family. Mildred was a skilled seamstress, her nimble fingers crafted intricate designs and stitched memories into every piece she created. Her talent and attention to detail were evident in every stitch. She was also accomplished in the kitchen. Mildreds culinary skills were renowned, and her kitchen was a place of delight and comfort for her loved ones. Her delicious meals brought joy and warmth to countless family gatherings, leaving behind a flavorful legacy.
Mildred could often be found relaxing in her favorite rocking chair on her front porch, where she regularly spent leisurely afternoons surrounded by family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and compassion that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who had the honor of knowing her. Her absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her memory will continue to inspire and uplift us.
In honoring her life, let us carry forward her spirit of love, kindness, and devotion to family and community.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.
