Mildred Spencer Obituary
She was born in Kingston, Pennsylvania on April 28, 1923, to Er and Mildred (Cole) Remley. After graduating from Grace Hospital in Detroit, Michigan she served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corp 1944-46 as an R.N. Helene sailed on the US Hospital ships "Shamrock" and "Charles A. Stafford" making one trip to Manila, Philippines and eight trips to Bremerhaven, Germany.
On March 13, 1954. she was united in marriage to Donald E. Spencer. She is survived by her son Chris (Steve) Spencer; stepchildren Cindy (Al) Johansen and Brian (Peggy) Spencer; seven grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and her sister Carolyn Phillippe.
She was preceded in death by her husband Don, son Kerry, two grandsons Clark and Nicholas, and her sister Nina Bittenbender.
Helene took pride in her rose gardens and working with her husband on the centennial Spencer fruit farm in South Haven, Michigan. They spent many enjoyable years traveling in their 5th wheel through 46 continental states, fishing trips to Canada and trips abroad to Europe and Asia. After Don's retirement they resided in Sarasota, Florida.
In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. Interment will be at McDowell Cemetery in Casco Township at a later date.

Aunt Helene was my closest aunt literally and figuratively. When moved to Michigan´s Casco township in high school our little apiary farm was through a half mile of apple orchard and then down and up hill Spencer
Aunt Helene and I shared many good conversations and love of travel.
