Mildred Ann "Mimi" Staples

Mildred Ann "Mimi" (Forbes) Staples, 90, of Enfield, beloved wife of the late Frederick "Harry" Staples, peacefully passed away at her home on Friday, December 5, 2025.

Born in Holyoke, MA on March 12, 1935, Millie was the daughter of the late Walter and Mildred (Fellows) Forbes. She was an independent, spirited woman who treasured the simple joys of life. Millie was skilled in knitting and crocheting, and she kept her mind sharp with word puzzles. She was also an avid reader who found comfort and fulfillment in books throughout her life.

Millie worked for many years in the supermarket industry, where she served as cash office lead. Her strong work ethic, attention to detail, and quiet strength were evident in all she did.

She leaves behind her daughters, Susan and Robert Lackenbach of Enfield, Nancy and Ernest Perry of Vernon; her cherished grandchildren Brett Lackenbach and his wife Olivia; Casey Lackenbach, Liz Staples-Perry and her partner Isaac Olivo, Erin Perry and her partner Brandon Rocco and her beloved great-grandchildren, Owen, Beckett, Wrenna, and Jaxson. Millie is also survived by her sister, Diane Enoch and her husband Edwin and their three sons along with extended family and dear friends.

Relatives and friends may gather with the family for calling hours on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., with burial at Hillcrest Cemetery in Springfield, MA.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Millie's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
