It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mildred Stillwell, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Mildred was born on September 11, 1936, in Greenville, South Carolina, and departed this life on November 15, 2025. A longtime resident of Piedmont, South Carolina, she lived a life dedicated to family, faith, and service.
Mildred enjoyed a career as a bookkeeper in the food distribution industry, spending many productive years with PYA/Monarch. She was known for her meticulous work ethic and her ability to connect with others.
A devoted member of Welcome Baptist Church, Mildred made significant contributions to both her church community and the broader community at large. She served in the Children's Ministry, inspired young minds, and was an active participant in the Women's Missionary Union and the Good News Club. Additionally, she dedicated her time and resources to Operation Christmas Child, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to helping those in need.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Irene Mason; her husband of 62 years, Tommy Stillwell; sister, Evelyn Cantrell and a brother, Raymond Mason.
Mildred is survived by her two daughters, Rachel Stillwell and Melody Ellis (Tim); her brother, Odell Mason (Sarah); her grandchildren, Patrick Ellis (Liz), Wesley Ellis (Katie), and Ashley Ellis; and her great-grandchildren, MacKenna and Caiden Ellis. Her legacy will live on through the lives she touched and the lessons she imparted.
A graveside service will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 in Greenville Memorial Gardens. The memorial service to celebrate Mildred's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Palmetto Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mildred's honor to Operation Christmas Child, a charity that was dear to her heart.
Mildred Stillwell will be remembered for her warm spirit, her artistic talents in sewing, painting, and crafting, and her unwavering love for her family and faith. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
