Martin Funeral Home - Stuart ChapelStrunk, Mildred Joan, 99, of Hobe Sound, passed away on August 21, 2025. Mildred was born in Elizabeth, NJ, in 1926 and graduated from Battin High School in Elizabeth in 1944.
She married Harry W Strunk of Union, NJ in 1947, and they shared 64 years together. She loved sewing and embroidery, and together they raised five children in New Jersey. In NJ, Mildred was active with the Faith Bible Presbyterian Church. In 1988, Mildred and Harry moved to Hobe Sound, FL, to enjoy their retirement. Mildred was very active in Peace Presbyterian Church and served as a Vacation Bible School teacher, a deacon, and coordinated visits to the Port Salerno Health and Rehabilitation Center on Cove Road, next to the Church.
Mildred is predeceased by her husband Harry, her daughter Linda, her granddaughter Amanda Gammisch, and her sister Florence Adona. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Susan Barber (widow), Barbara and Mark Farenwald; sons and daughters-in-law, Peter and Marie Strunk, and William and Michelle Strunk; grandchildren Stacy Weimer, Monica Graham, William Strunk Jr, Mary Beth Strunk Price, and Esther Strunk; and great-grandchildren Tyler Graham, Dylan Graham, Sophie Weimer, Andrew Weimer and Megan Graham.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, September 6th @ 10 a.m. at Peace Presbyterian Church, 4881 SE Cove Rd, Salerno, FL 34997. Refreshments will be served immediately after the service in Fellowship Hall at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Mildred may be made to Peace Presbyterian Church, 4881 SE Cove Rd, Salerno, FL 34997; Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, FL 34997; and St Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
