Mildred Catherine McAlister Umphrey was born on Saturday, May 4, 1940 in Anderson, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Ermest and Lura Hammonds McAlister.

On November 28, 1986, Mildred was united in marriage to the love of her life, Coley Umphrey, who survives.

Mildred enjoyed riding her three-wheeler motorcycle, which she called her "trike". She also enjoyed traveling and visiting her family and friends.

Mildred Catherine McAlister Umphrey departed this life on March 23, 2024 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 83 years, 10 months, and 19 days.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Coley Umphrey; daughter, Cathy Frank and her husband Butch; son, Scott Peeler and his wife Tammy; grandchildren, Crystal Bennett and her husband Jonathan, April Copeland and her husband Jesse, Nicholas Frank, Cameron Peeler and his wife Laura, Christopher Snodgrass and his wife Madison, Israel Broome, Joshua Broome, Jeremy Broome, and Anna Rebecca Broome; great grandchildren, Brana Williamson and her husband Matt, Kiley Bennett, Jacob Copeland, Aligail Copeland, Josie Copeland, Natalie Frank, Kenzi Dildy, Isaac Snodgrass, Brayden Snodgrass, Carson Snodgrass, and Aaliygh Snodgrass; great great grandchildren, Maxton Williamson and Octavia Williamson; brother, Melvin McAlister and his wife Madgelene; sister in law, Ople McAlister; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Aday; sons, Steve Broome and Billy Broome; sisters, Luar Poole and Ida Campbell; brothers, Willie McAlister, James McAlister, Adger McAlister, Alvin McAlister, Thomas McAlister, and Jerry Wayne McAlister; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Rosie Umphrey.
