Mildred P. Waters

Mildred P. Waters, 88, of Rome, NY, passed away on October 7, 2024.

Born in Otsego, NY, on April 29,1936, she was a daughter of William Shepard and Alice Lent. Mildred was united in marriage to Henry Waters, Sr. on July 2, 1957, in Hartwick, NY. They shared a blessed life together until his passing on June 6, 2002.

Mildred was a devoted wife and mother, always making sure her family's needs were met; she was always supportive of her children and proud of their accomplishments. Mildred enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She was an active member of St. John the Baptist Church, in Rome, where she formed many friendships and enjoyed her church family. She was a member of YMCA and a former member of the Red Hat Society; she also enjoyed playing Bocce.

Mildred is survived by her sons, Henry Waters, Jr. (Pam Borst), of Rome, NY and Charles Waters, of Rome; daughters, Debra Hanson (Kevin Presti), of Florida and Gail (John) Miller, of Ohio; brother, Philip (Glenna) Fremento, of FL; sisters, Paulina Griffith, of Hartwick, NY and Doris Snyder, Rome; special niece, Arlene Shafer; grandchildren, Joseph Waters, Christina Villeneuve, Tiffany (Kaci) Waters, Jessie Waters and Dillon Tiller; and great-grandchildren, Savanna DeMarce, Asher and Evelyn Waters.

She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Waters, Sr.; brothers, George, Leonard and Floyd Shepard; and sisters, Claretta Skillen, Rosina Forham and Anita Keefe.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, from 11 AM to 1 PM with a Funeral Service immediately following at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home, 7751 Merrick Rd., Rome. Burial will take place at Fly Creek Cemetery, Otsego, NY.
