Mildred White Thomas
November 8, 1919-May 2, 2017
Mildred White Thomas, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great - great grandmother died at her home in Nashville, Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest Adair Thomas; daughters, Sandra Jean Payne and Marcia Gail Miller Landvater.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Linda T. Newton (Atlanta, GA), Joan Guth (Nashville, TN); her sister, Hazel Kingsley (Jonesboro, GA); 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
Granny, as she was affectionately known, had a dry, humorous wit which delighted everyone and kept them laughing. One of her last comments was “everyone smile.”
Granny, blessed with a sweet, lovable nature, affected everyone who met her.
At 97, she would sit in her rocking chair singing “Amazing Grace.” She loved to cook and bake and was a magnificent cake decorator in her younger years. Her favorite sidekick was her loyal companion, Baby, a teddy bear she has had for ten years. She rarely went anywhere without her........even to the hospital. She would fight you for Baby and the docs and nurses knew Baby very well. She was a constant companion.
Mildred Thomas will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in honor of her great-granddaughter, Miranda Beamer, cancer survivor, at www.stbaldricks.org/participants/mypage/897255/2017.

Linda and Joan. We were so blessed to have our mothers for so long! Joan you took great care of your Mother and Linda I am so glad you got to have her with you before she got sick. I know you both have such wonderful memories of her to keep in your hearts forever. I know your families will miss her lots. I was glad I got to meet her last month. She seemed like a sweet lady and still so pretty!
I will keep her and your families in my prayers
She is surely in heaven watching over all of you!
