Millard "Mickey" Ray Ellis

Timberlake, North Carolina - Millard "Mickey" Ray Ellis, 84, of Timberlake, North Carolina, passed away at his home on February 9, 2026.

Born on August 20, 1941, in Bahama, he was the son of the late Coy L. Ellis and Lucille Roberts Ellis. Mickey proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before returning home to build a life rooted in hard work, family, and community.

For many years, Mickey owned and operated a service station, where he was known as a skilled mechanic and a trusted friend to countless customers.

Mickey was a member of Knap of Reeds Masonic Lodge No. 158. He also had a lifelong passion for stock car racing and found joy in the simple companionship of his cherished pets-his cat, Sylvester, and his dog, Houdini.

In addition to his parents, Mickey was preceded in death by his loving wife Laurie Dean of 32 years; and six brothers-Euell, Wallace, Ralph, Grady, Phillip, and Marshal Ellis-and two sisters, Blanche Marks and Ruth Chambers.He is survived by his son, Millard "Ray" Ellis Jr. (Tammy); his two brothers, Winston and Harold Ellis; and several special nieces, nephews; and close friends who will forever remember his kindness, humor, and steady presence.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Antioch Baptist Church, Timberlake, NC 27583. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m., prior to the service at 2 p.m. Dr. M. David Chambers will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, 600 College St., Oxford, NC 27565.
