Milne A. "Mac" McBrair

Milne "Mac" A. McBrair, age 101, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 16, 2023. He is survived by his wife, Betty (nee Garrett) of 78 years. Loving father of Jerry (Pam) McBrair, Scott (Eileen) McBrair, Jill (Bill) LaCroix, Jan Uphoff and son-in-law, Larry Wills. Proud grandfather of Heather (Chris) LaMaster, Heidi (Shannon) McBrair, Troy (Lisa) McBrair, Daniel (Danielle) LaCroix, Colin (Cassie Jones) McBrair, Jenni LaCroix and great grandfather of Harper, Kori, Connor and Charlotte. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Mickie Wills, brother, James and sisters Ila and Leatha.
Mac was born in Marion Township and raised in Red Granite, Wisconsin. He graduated from Red Granite High School in 1939 where he starred in track and baseball. Mac then attended two years at Milwaukee Teachers' College (now UW-Milwaukee). He bravely enlisted in the Army Air Corps within weeks after Pearl Harbor. He served four years as a tech sergeant in Italy during World War II. Mac was among the first veterans on the Honor Flight to Washington D.C.
Mac met Betty shortly after the war when they married and bought a bar/restaurant in Plainfield, WI. In 1948 they moved to Milwaukee where he became a salesman for Tews Lime and Cement. He retired after nearly 40 years to spend more time golfing and being with his grandchildren. He accomplished the uncommon feat of golfing his age at 88 and golfing right up to his 100th birthday.
He also loved playing Hearts and Sheepshead particularly when he moved to The Regency New Berlin in 2019 where he made a whole new circle of friends. Mac was most proud of raising his five kids and often along with Betty, caring for his grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, September 25, 2023 at Hartson Funeral Home, visitation from 1:00pm until the time of the service with Chaplain Beth Christiansen officiating. Military Honors will be accorded following the service.
In lieu of flowers, if desired donations can be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Mac and his family give special thanks to The Regency staff and Aurora In-Home Hospice.
