Milo Walter Petrick, age 85 of Montello passed away Saturday, March 7, 2026 at the Montello Care Center. Milo was born on November 18, 1940 the son of Walter and Minnie (Semrau) Petrick on the family farm known as Shady Lawn Farm in the Town of Shields, Marquette County. He attended Mecan Grade School and later Montello High School. On June 27, 1959, he was united in marriage to Barbara Ellen Tetzlaff at the Lutheran Church in Germania.
Growing up on the farm, Milo worked side by side with his father. Milo became very mechanically inclined. He was always busy fixing something even at the Montello Care Center. He fixed thing so well, that maintenance couldn’t put it back together.
While farming, Milo was also a milk can hauler for Shields Creamery and had a can route for Milo Swanke. Years later, he worked for Lewiston Corp. of Wisconsin Dells for 21 years. Years later, Milo worked back on the Swanke Farm fixing everything in site and doing what he loved best, farming the land. After retirement, he enjoyed working on small engines. He could be heard telling the neighbors how to fix their mowers.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Barbara and two daughters: Sheree Zimmerman of Princeton and Debbie Hackbart of Montello. He is also survived by grandchildren: Jeremy (Rachael) Zimmerman, Stacy (friend, Brad) Myers, Crystal (Rachel) Souzek and Ryan (Danielle) Hackbart and as well as great-grandchildren: Caden, Finn, Gunnar, Avery, Ava and Gavin along with sister-in-law, Bonnie Nelson.
Milo is preceded in death by his parents, in-laws: Walter and Laura Tetzlaff, cousin, Orlo Swanke and several aunts and uncles.
A funeral service for Milo Petrick will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Emmanuel (Big Mecan) Lutheran Church, Montello. Visitation will be held from 9:30 until 10:45 AM at the church. Burial will follow at Montello Eastside Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Montello Care Center and St. Croix Hospice of Baraboo. Your patience and kindness brought dignity to Milo’s final days.
