Milton Roger Barr

Milton Roger Barr, 82, of Grant, passed away on August 17, 2022 in Providence, Rhode Island. He was born on February 18, 1940 to John Michael and Kitty (LeClaire) Barr in Marquette, Michigan. Milton was the owner/operator of Grant Welding for many years.He serviced local businesses and built several highway sign structures installed across the state of Michigan. Milton supported the community of Grant, re-building the skate park and relocating the old railroad water tower to where it resides today, are a couple of examples. Throughout his life, he enjoyed camping, smelting, fishing, snowmobiling, riding his motor scooter and playing cards. Most recently, he loved riding his Kubota around the fields and across trails near his home. He was especially proud of the restoration he did of his father s Oliver tractor which was donated to the Buckley Old Engine Show in 2021. Milton was known as a mechanical genius and was able to figure out how to solve nearly any problem that came his way. Milton is survived by his daughter Cathie (Agnelo) Rebelo of North Dighton, MA, step son John F. Dupras Jr. of Grant, step daughter Debra J. (Jim) Hilton of Benton Harbor, step son Bryan S. (Kim) Dupras of Tioga, PA, 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, brother James (Theo) Barr, sister Virginia Youn; several nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Lou. He was preceded in death by his wife Ione and his siblings: Lucille, Edward, Richard, and Eugene. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 23, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Fields-McKinley Funeral Home in Grant. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Grant Community Church with Pastor Jordan Chambers officiating. Burial will take place in the Hillside Cemetery.
