Milton Dickfoss passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026, two days shy of his 93rd birthday.

Born in South Dakota in 1933, he was the only son of the late Adolph and Emma Dickfoss. His family later moved to West Camp, NY, surviving the dust bowl.

He served in the Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Alaska. Upon his return home, he attended college in Indiana, where he majored in Mechanical Engineering.

He married Anneliese in 1960.

He went on to work for Grumman Aerospace in Bethpage, NY and was instrumental in working on the Lunar Module (LEM), which landed on the moon with Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin in 1969, as well as subsequent missions. While working on the LEM, he perfected a way of keeping the windows from fogging up in the coldness of space. This earned him a coveted Silver Snoopy award from Astronaut Fred Haise.

In 1970, he moved his family to the Schenectady area, where they found home and they remained for the duration of his life.

He remained active in the engineering field and held several jobs, including Systomation, Fault Finders, Factron, and Schlumberger, all involved in making fixtures that tested printed circuit boards.

Milton was a member of the New Apostolic Church since birth and has been a constant attendee of the Congregation on Curry Rd.

He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Anneliese Dickfoss; his two children, William Dickfoss and Susan Bauer (Bruce); his two granddaughters, Megan McLachlan (Connor) and Lara Bauer (Matthew); and one great-granddaughter.

Services will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the New Apostolic Church, 2389 Curry Road, Schenectady. Visitation will take place from 9:30 am – 10:30 am, with a Service to begin at 11:00 am.

Milton will be laid to rest on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 10:30 am, in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY. Please arrive to the cemetery at 10:15 am to join the procession to the service space.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in Milton’s honor to St. Jude’s’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
