With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Hermina F. Folven, affectionately known as Mina, who departed this life on January 28, 2026, at the age of 92. Born to Herman and Florence (Klatt) Loge in Blue Earth, Minnesota, Mina brought light and joy to all who knew her. She grew up surrounded by her loving siblings, developing bonds that would last a lifetime.
Mina was a proud graduate of Frost High School and, on October 26, 1952, she married her beloved husband, Donald Folven. Together, they created a nurturing home filled with love for their four children. Mina extended her caring nature beyond her own family, offering in-home daycare for many years, where she embraced each child as if they were her own. In addition to her dedication to her family and the children in her care, Mina had a creative spirit. She enjoyed embroidery, knitting, and crocheting, being an active member of the “Grannie Hookers” group, where she shared her talents with other like-minded souls. Her love for ceramics was yet another expression of her artistic flair. She was also a lifelong member at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth.
Left to cherish her memory are her children; Brenda (Verlyn) Ripley of Blue Earth, MN, Marc Folven of Spring Grove, MN and James (Laura) Folven of Plymouth, MN, six grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Her siblings; Sandy (Gerald) Urban, Lynette (Juel) Merseth and Marlyn (Kathy) Loge, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Don, son Gary, daughter-in-law Wendy, brother Loren (Linda) Loge, sisters Donna (Carlyle) Matheson and Marvis (Arnie) Karge and nephews Steven Karge and Matthew Loge.
A funeral service will be held at 2pm Monday February 2 at Patton Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Blue Earth.
