Minerva Camacho, a loving mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025, at the age of 80, surrounded by her loved ones after a courageous two-and-a-half-year battle with breast cancer. Minerva was born on September 16, 1944, in San Antonio, Texas, to Rodolfo (Rufino) and Maria Zuniga Hernandez. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Camacho, as well as her brother, Rudy Hernandez, and sisters, Elida Padron and Oralia Macias and both parents.
She is survived by her nine devoted children: Cathy and Jimmy Limon, Anna Marie Reyna, Faustino and Pauline Ruiz, Daniel and Christina Ruiz, Diana Castillo, Christopher and Linda Ruiz, Rebecca Aleman, Steven and Priscilla Ruiz, and Edward Ruiz, along with numerous cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Minerva's life was defined by her selflessness and dedication to others. She began working at the young age of 13, taking on jobs as a babysitter and waitress. Later, Minerva devoted herself to being a stay-at-home mom, caring for her children and ensuring they always felt loved and supported. Her passion for cooking was unmatched, and she loved preparing meals for her family and friends. Minerva's delicious dishes became so popular that people often requested and bought her food.
Minerva had a deep love for plants and gardening, spending much of her time cultivating beauty in her surroundings. Her garden was a reflection of her nurturing spirit, and she found peace and joy in the growth and care of her plants.
A lover of music and dancing, Minerva brought joy and warmth wherever she went, sharing her spirit with all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched with her kindness, generosity, and unshakeable love.
Minerva will be greatly missed and forever loved. She leaves behind a family and community who will carry on her memory, remembering the incredible woman she was and the love she gave so freely.
May she rest in peace.
