Minnie Ellen Evans, 95, of Levelland, Texas, passed peacefully from this life on June 10, 2025. A celebration of her life is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 17th, at Cactus Drive Church of Christ with Michael Jimenez of Cactus Drive officiating. Visitation is scheduled for 5-7 p.m. Monday, June 16th, at Krestridge Funeral Home.
Ellen was born on December 22, 1929, in Morton, Texas, to Lewis and Myrtle Head Drum. Ellen graduated from Morton High School and attended South Plains College. From the time she could walk, she was in the cotton fields helping her dad and siblings on the family farm. That strong work ethic continued throughout her life. In 1948, she married Earl Evans, and together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work.
Ellen and Earl founded Evans Harvesting and spent decades traveling from Texas to North Dakota each summer as part of the harvest run. Their dedication to the custom harvesting community was honored when they were inducted into the Custom Harvesters Hall of Fame in 2000.
When she wasn’t in the field or cooking meals for the harvest crew, Ellen could be found china painting, hand-embroidering, sewing, or quilting, she never allowed her hands to be idle. She was also a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, where she found strength and community throughout her life.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 74 years, Earl Evans; two sons, Douglas and Gary Don Evans; her granddaughter, Courtney Ellen Cigainero; parents, Lewis and Myrtle Drum; brothers, Duane and Sam Drum; sisters, Doris Pieper and Daphane Nunnally.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Earlene and Travis Cigainero of Pittsburg, TX; grandchildren: Megan (Logan) Tisler, Matt (Tracie) Evans, Kari (Sergiu) Mardari, Morgan (Brad) Combs, Katie (Ethan) Massie, and Jacob (Breeanna) Evans. Daughter-in-law, Leslie Evans. Great-grandchildren: Luke Evans, Mia Mardari, Sealey and Sloan Combs, Sterling Evans, Dakota and Ty Tisler, Macie (Nolan) Slagle, and Destiny (Brody) Alexander. Great-great granddaughter: Paisley Alexander.
