Mother Minnie Lurene Toliver

On Wednesday, July 13, 2022, the Death Angel came and bore the bright spirit of Mother Minnie Lurene Smith Gautier Toliver, 98 years old, away to a land that is free from sickness, sorrow, and pain. She slipped silently from her family and friends at Centre Pointe Health and Rehabilitation Center in Tallahassee, Florida. Mother Toliver was born in Sneads, Florida on September 2, 1923 to Dea. Will C. Smith and Mother Bessie Jones Smith who preceded her in death. Siblings preceded her in death were sisters, Ethel, Bessie Mae, Ida Lee and brothers, John and Eddie. She is a high school graduate of the Wewahitchka, Florida public schools. After marriage, the family relocated to Tallahassee, where she joined Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church. She later joined St. John Missionary Baptist Church to be with her aging mother and father. She loved her church and served until her health began to fail. Faithfully serving as Youth Director, Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, Mission Society, Deaconess and Mother's Board. She leaves to cherished her loving memory: a devoted daughter, Dr. Bessie Gautier Jackson, Gainesville, FL; son, James Will Gautier, Tallahassee, FL; sister, Irene Turner (Joe), Ocala, FL; 2 cherished grandchildren, Rev. Clarence White III, Houston, TX and Venisha White-Buchanon (Boyd), Gainesville, FL; 5 precious grandchildren, Andrew James Clark, Boyd Buchanon II, Cai Laonya Buchanon, Myles White and Caden White. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The homegoing celebration will be held graveside at 11:00 A.M. (C.S.T.) on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at St. Peter Cemetery in Sneads, Florida. Pastor Ervin Montgomery III, St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Tallahassee, Officiating and Pastor Clarence White III, St. Paul United Methodist Church, Galveston, TX delivering Words of Comfort. Interment will follow immediately. Family and friends are asked to meet at Strong & Jones Funeral Home to form the cortege at 9:30 A.M. (E.S.T.)
