MIRANDA NICOLE CURRY OWENS, 40, beloved wife of Matthew Neill Owens, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2024 in her home, surrounded by her loving family after a valiant 2 year battle against breast cancer.
A native of Nicholas County, WV, Miranda was a daughter of Janette Branham Curry and the late Herbert Murl Curry III. Her family moved to Clinton, SC in the late 1990’s where she attended and graduated from Clinton High School in 2001. She graduated Cum Laude from Coastal Carolina in 2005 with bachelor’s in Sociology. Following college, she dedicated herself to helping others by working at a children’s shelter and as a victim’s advocate for child abuse in Spartanburg, SC. She then worked as a juvenile probation officer for the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice. After her first son was born, she became a stay-at-home mom for the last decade. She moved to Aiken in 2015 and became an active member of Talatha Baptist Church where she was involved in the youth ministry. She was formerly a member of New Life Baptist Fellowship in Boiling Springs, SC.
Miranda loved fiercely, she touched the lives of many over the years, and was a friend to countless others.
Surviving is her husband of 15 ½ years, Matt; two sons, Tanner Matthew Owens (age 10), Talon Andrew Owens (age 9), all of Aiken; her mother, Janette Curry, Belton, SC and her brother, Jason Curry (Lee Ann), Powdersville, SC.
The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon, June 9th beginning at 2:30 PM at Talatha Baptist Church. A Celebration of Miranda’s Life will follow at 4 o’clock with The Revs. Jordan Bird and Trevor Burrow officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Talatha Baptist Church, 361 Talatha Church Rd., Aiken, SC 29803.
