Mitchell Cichy Obituary
Mitchell "Mieczyslaw" Cichy, 71, of New Britain, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at the Hospital of Central CT after a long illness. Born in Cisz, Poland, to the late Franciszek and Stefania (Polomka) Cichy, he came to the United States in July 1964 and was a longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in New Britain.
Throughout his life he worked as a master machinist in various companies in the Aerospace Industry. He enjoyed music, loved to dance and sing and was a big fan of
Elvis Presley. Mitchell was known for his extraordinary generosity and his willingness to help others. His kind and compassionate heart will be missed by all who knew him.
A loving father, grandfather and brother, he is survived by his son, John Cichy and his wife Marleena Cichy of New Britain; his two daughters: Eva Laliberte of Bristol and Diane Cichy of Simsbury and his grandchildren, Liliana Cichy, Chase Laliberte, Sawyer Preleski and Zachary Preleski. He is also survived by his sisters, Jadwiga Laszczewski and Halina Bender, his former wife, Teresa Cichy and many nieces and nephews. Mitchell was also predeceased by his son-in-law, Jason Laliberte, his sisters, Teresa Labieniec and Leokadia Bucholska and five brothers: Czeslaw, Eugeniusz,
Edward, Tadeusz and Stanislaw.
Friends and family are invited to call upon Mitchell's family on Thursday, January 8, 2026 from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. at Burritt Hill Funeral Home, 332 Burritt St, New Britain, CT 06053. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place DIRECTLY at Sacred Heart Church, 158 Broad St., New Britain on Friday, January 9, 2026 at 9:30 a.m.. Burial will be private.
