Mitchell Ross Martinez

Mitchell Ross Martinez was born on August 22, 1981 in Monticello Utah to Fidel and Valorie Martinez.
Mitchell left this earth peacefully at home on March 30, 2023. Mitchell was born and raised in
Monticello Utah where his parents instilled kindness in his heart, compassion for others and a hard work
ethic in him. He had a childhood filled with adventures with his brother and sister spending time in
nature, in tow with mom and dad around the county trapping, gathering wood and tending to dad's
livestock. He spent many days building fence with the family and learning to work hard. In his teens he
worked with a couple of local builders, learning the trade. After graduating high school in Monticello, he
left the area and became a great carpenter and framer working in Northern Utah and eventually settling
in the Denver Colorado area. He was a father to 3 beautiful children, all who he absolutely adored.
Mitchell was loved deeply by the kids of the family; as they could always see his pure heart. He loved to
spend time with his kids, nieces and nephews. They all have memories of fishing at the lake together
during summer visits and being at Grandpa and Grandma's having BBQ's and playing with the animals
together. Mitchell had a huge love for the outdoors from the desert to the mountains. He was at peace
camping, fishing, riding his motorcycle and simply spending time with his family and friends.
Mitchell later returned home to Monticello, a place where his heart never left. Mitchell spent the last
year of his life helping to care for his parents and was a godsend to his family in helping with his aging
parents. He was the best care giver to his father for the last 5 months, even though he was fighting for
his own life.
Mitchell is proceeded in death by his mother, Valorie Martinez.
Mitchell is survived by his three children Sierra Taysom, Brayden and Colby Martinez. His father Fidel
Martinez. His dear partner Mimi Toomey. His sister Laurel (Stan) Schafer, their children Taylor Betts,
Cameron and Benjamin Schafer. His brother Marshall (Mindy) Martinez, their children Hunter, Brennen
and Naomi Martinez.
Family and friends are the true first responders; they're the ones who are on the front lines of the
battle, and who suffer the emotional wounds of addiction. Loving one another isn't always easy, but
always worth it. The family would like to thank everyone for the love, prayers and kindness. A
celebration of life is planned for a later date.
