Mitchell R. Titze
Mitchell R. Titze passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE at age of 74. He was born in Oakland, Nebraska to William and Marilyn (Willnerd) Titze. It was winter solstice when Bill and Marilyn were surprised with the birth of twin boys, Mitchell and Michael. In 15 months, brother Thomas Kent would be born and later Kevin Charles would be the fourth brother. The rambunctious brothers would have many adventures growing up in Fremont and Omaha.
At 14, Mitch was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Treatment for diabetics was very different in the 1960's and Mitch's saw all the progress in treatment.
Growing up he worked as paperboy, busboy and brick layer. Mitch graduated from Burke High with the class of 1968. After high school he worked for several years laying tile and vinyl flooring until he began work at Northwestern Bell Telephone. He started as a clerk and progressed to central office technician. His career would take him from Omaha to Grand Island and then to Lexington. After 30 years with the phone company, Mitch retired.
In 1984 due to years of diabetes, his kidneys failed. His twin brother, Mike, gave him the gift of life with one of his kidneys. Not only did Mike and Mitch look alike but testing revealed that they were identical twins and Mitch did not need to take immune suppression medicine. The new kidney would last Mitch for 40 years.
Throughout his life Mitch loved to fish, hunt and train his hunting dogs. He belonged to many outdoor clubs. He relished hunting duck and geese with Joe at the "Duck Inn", going on hunting and fishing trips to South Dakota with his buddy Brad and to Canada and Great Lakes with his friend Tim. In Lexington, he met and married Marsha Linke Delp and he gained a grown step son, Adam Delp and his wife Melissa and their daughter Desirai. Mitch was a kind and supportive husband, who completed many home projects from laying tile for the home to building garden structures. In 2020 Mitch and Marsha moved to Kearney.
Survivors include his wife Marsha; mother, Marilyn Titze of Phoenix AZ; brothers, Micheal Titze (Beth) of Tallahassee, FL, Kent ( Fran) of Phoenix AZ, Kevin Charles aka KC (Sharon) of Eugene, OR; stepson, Adam (Melissa) Delp of Johnson Lake, NE; step granddaugher, Desirai Grassmeyer of Holdrege, NE; sisters in law and brothers in law, David and Janet McCotter of Chandler, AZ and Richard and Donna Farlow of Gretna, NE; and many special nieces, nephews and cousins.
