Mitsue M. Ayotte (Sakima) sadly departed here on 28 January 2025 at UNC Hospital after a long 6-year battle with cancer. She fought a courageous fight but ultimately succumbed to the disease with her daughter and son in law by her side. Mitsue celebrated her 80th birthday in November with all of her kids, grandchildren and her two great-grandchildren together.
Born Nov 23, 1944, in Okinawa Japan to Teru Sakima. She loved basketball growing up as a child and later on in life she was very active in Japanese dance, martial arts and loved gardening. She was apart of the Okinawa Taiko Drum and Dance program and got her grandkids involved in it when they were stationed in Okinawa with her. She also had a passion for cooking to ensure everyone had a full stomach daily, she liked fast cars, and her favorite vehicle is Jaguar. More than anything, Mitsue loved her kids and would do anything for them.
Mitsue always made a habit to support her kids and grandkids sporting and school events whether it took place in CT, NH or CA. She made sure each one of them knew and learned about their Japanese heritage. She taught all of them how to count and try to write in Japanese. She loved to share her favorite recipes and made the best "crepes" ever.
She is predeceased by her mother Teru, her brother Murio Sakima. She leaves behind her sons Tony Ayotte (Natalie) of Manchester, NH, Michael Ayotte of Bedford, NH, her daughter Michelle Taylor (George) of Hope Mills, NC and Tania Ayotte of Oceanside, CA. Seven grandchildren Steven Ayotte, Samantha Chechowitz (Nick), Kelly Ayotte, Greg Taylor (Kelly McNicholas), Brittany Ayotte, George Taylor III (Taylor Cullen), Torrance Ayotte, Geoffrey Taylor, Mitsue Angelou and Madison Taylor and two great-grandchildren Braxton Chechowitz and Stella Angelou.
Cunningham and Son's Mortuary Inc will make all arrangements for the family. A Japanese tradition of 49 days of mourning will be carried out by her family.
