Born June 26, 1932 to the late Rueben A. Jones and Eunice Oakes Jones, she lived in Gordon County, GA most of her life.
A beloved mother, and grandmother, Mittie was all about family. Her family, and co-workers, were delighted when she shared her homemade cakes with them. If she made a cake for you, it was made with love. Having a strong work ethic, she was a valued employee in the textile industry until age 65, then working in a retail store until age 85. She loved music and attended many concerts throughout the years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bill Broyles. Daughter, Janet Abel Hamilton. Brothers, William Jones, Harry Jones, Robert Jones, Berrymond Jones, Rev. David B. Jones, and Richard R. Jones. Sisters, Betty Elmstrom, Ruth Love, Sarah Brown, Carmen Bridges, Mary Abel, and Selma Moskowitz. Grandson, Noah Hamilton. Great Granddaugher, Camryn Pass. She is survived by one son, Steven Wayne Abel. Daughters, Terry Abel Bailey, and Mitzi Broyles Padgett. Grandsons, Lance Broyles and Chandler Patton. Granddaughters, Amanda Bailey Powell, and Isabella Padgett. Great Grandchildren, Courtney Pass, Oscar Bailey, Zachary Bailey, Stella Scarber, Graham Scarber, Eloise Broyles, and several Nieces and Nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate Mittie's life will be Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Thomas Funeral Home in Calhoun, GA. Visitation will be from 2 pm to 3 pm, and her memorial service at 3 pm.
