Mitzi was born September 12, 1947, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Roy and Marie (“Pootsie”) Calvert. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Des Moines and attended Central College in Pella, Iowa.
A friend introduced her to the love of her life, Bob Bittner, while he was in town for a banking conference. They were married on June 29, 1968, in Des Moines, and shared 53 years of devoted marriage marked by deep love, steady companionship, and a lifetime of shared memories.
