Molly Charnes Obituary

Molly Charnes

November 30, 1948 - December 29, 2024

Molly R. Charnes, 76, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Meyer Coen. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, David A. Charnes; her son, Matthew (Sarah); and grandson, David Weston; her brother, James Coen; her sister, Nancy DeSouza; four sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, many nieces and nephews and her dog, Ellie.

Molly was a kind and gentle person known for her ready smile and pleasant nature. She loved all children especially the little ones. She started as a first-grade teacher and considered being named to teach three-year-old preschool students the ultimate promotion. Molly also enjoyed beach vacations and special dinners with family and friends. Her lasagna was legendary as were her mashed potatoes. Molly's good nature and sweetness were evident throughout her stay in memory care as she continued to smile and blow kisses to the Staff and fellow residents until the very end.

Friends will be received on Friday, January 10, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 9505 Gayton Road, Richmond. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow starting at 12 p.m. Private graveside service will be held for the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rick Sharp Alzheimer Foundation or to The Circle Center Adult Day Services in Richmond.

I´ve known Molly since grade school and have been friends throughout adulthood. All through high school we continued to remain friends doing lots of crazy things together and would always get together when Molly came home to Elyria from Richmond. So many fond memories of Molly. Her laughter was infectious. Rest in peace Molly, my heartfelt condolences to Dave, Matthew and family. And sending heartfelt comfort to Molly´s family in Ohio.

David, I didn´t know Molly very well, but I could see she was an extraordinarily special lady. I could see the light of love in your eyes for her and in her eyes for you. Michael and I are thinking of you at this time of loss and sending our love and support.
