ALBANY - Molly Quinn Duffy, 46, a loving and devoted mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend to many, entered eternal life on Thursday, September 7, 2023, after a fierce battle with metastatic melanoma that she met with courage and a fighting spirit. She left us surrounded by her loved ones.
Born in Albany, Molly was the cherished daughter of James W. and Molly Phinney Larson. As with all things, Molly applied light and positivity and shared that with everyone around her.
Molly exuded a positive energy and spirit that lit up every room she entered. Molly filled spaces with warmth, love, and the aroma of her incredible baking. Her kitchen turned out thousands of Christmas cookies, and her famous soda bread marked the coming of St. Patrick's Day every year. Few people have met Molly and remained a stranger.
In her favorite role as mom to Little Brian, whether planning a special surprise, cheering on his team at Little League, organizing countless school events, or just snuggling on the couch and making everything better, Molly's unconditional love was a powerful and lasting force.
As a friend, Molly was always there to lend an ear, lend a hand, hand you a cocktail, or just have your back.
Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit lives on in the values she instilled in us, the love that we will forever carry in our hearts, and the memories that will never fade.
She was the beloved wife for 19 years of Bernard "Brian" John Duffy; loved and cherished mother of 11-year-old Brian Francis; and dear sister of James Arthur Larson and Christopher William Larson (Una). She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Molly's family on Monday, September 11, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen St., Albany. Please enter the funeral home from the rear parking lot entrance only. Funeral services on Tuesday, September 12, at 11 a.m. at the Parish of Mater Christi, Albany, where her funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal will be held in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands immediately following the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Molly's honor to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for research on melanoma, and to support those who are fighting it.
